單字概述與用法
otherwise雖然有兩個詞性，但主要多用作副詞，語意為否則、不然時，常放在句首，用來表明兩個子句的關係 - 一個條件和一個可能的結果; 當語意為以另外的方式時，則常在句中或句尾。otherwise有時(但很少)被用作形容詞，語意為根本不是那樣的(與通常或已知不同的方式或條件)。在現在口語或不正式的寫作中，otherwise常被用作連接詞，語意跟副詞一樣為否則、不然。

用法須注意事項：
- 現在在口語跟不正式的文章中，otherwise也被用來當連接詞，其前只要打逗號就好，例如，You should wear a helmet while riding a bike, otherwise, you could get hurt.你應該騎自行車時戴頭盔；否則，你可能會受傷。
但是，在正式的文章中，不要將otherwise當連接詞，請用句號將兩個句子分開，如，You should wear a helmet while riding a bike. Otherwise, you could get hurt.
或用分號連接兩句，如，You should wear a helmet while riding a bike; otherwise, you could get hurt. - otherwise作為形容詞的情況相當少，用來描述人或事物不同於通常或預期的條件或方式。
