單字概述與用法
impress是一個及物動詞,這個字的造字原則由press(按壓)而來,接首詞im-有進入或加強的味道,所以,他的基本語意為通過壓力或與表面接觸而形成的標記或壓痕。引申為使...印象深刻(按壓在腦中),意思為給某人或某事留下深刻而持久的印象、使某人感到欽佩或尊重、在表面上標記或壓印設計或圖案。要注意的是,impress不用在進行式,也不可用impress somebody something這種句型。impress三態為:impress / impressed / impressed。
以下四個含有影響之意的動詞,在語意上的細微差別:
- impress 使人印象深刻、欽佩或讓人明白了某件事的重要性,這些都會對這個人造成影響,且影響深刻且持久
- affect 的主詞通常不是人,多指某物對另一物產生的負面影響

- impact 對某人或某物產生強烈的影響,強調某事可能產生的衝擊
