Later單字概述與用法:

later是late的比較級,當形容詞時,語意為比較晚的,其後可接名詞; 當副詞時,語意為晚些時候、之後、後來,表示與過去或現在相比的較晚的一個時間點,常用於談論將來的計劃或已經發生過的事情的後續。

  • 形容詞:比較晚的、稍後的
  • 副詞:後來、稍後

用法須注意事項:

    1. late的形容詞三級有兩個
      late later latest (用於時間上的比較)
        later (稍後、後來)例句:We can decide on the movie later. 我們可以晚點決定看哪部電影。
         latest (最新的) 例句:I just read the latest book by my favorite author.我剛讀了我最喜歡的作者的最新一本書。

      late latter last (用於順序上的比較)
        latter (靠後的)例句:Between coffee and tea, I prefer the latter.在咖啡和茶之間,我偏好後者。
         last (最終的或最後的) 例句:He missed the last bus and had to walk home.他錯過了最後一班公車,只好走路回家。
      所以,要注意不要將later(較晚的)與latter(後者的)混淆。later用於時間上的比較,而latter用於列舉事物時指代第二個提及的事物。

    2. 注意區分later和lately (最近),lately通常用於談論近期發生的事情,而不是表示相對晚的時間點。
