單字概述與用法
besides有兩個詞性，作為副詞時，表示除了已經提到的事物之外，還有其他額外的事物或情況; 作為介系詞時，表示在某人或某物之外，還包括其他人或事物。在使用besides時，需注意其在句子中的位置。作為副詞使用時，它通常放在句子的開頭或結尾。而作為介系詞時，則放在要引入的其他事物之前。
- 副詞：語意為而且，除此之外還有，用以引出另一個情況或作補充。可用於句首、句尾、也可用於句中，常用逗號或分號與句子其他部分隔開。在書寫英語中，少用besides在句首，當修飾整個句子的副詞，多用較正式的moreover
- 介系詞：語意為除...之外，後面可以接名詞、代詞或動名詞，但不接動詞原形。用在肯定句中，表示除了擁有句中所說內容之外，還包括besides後面的內容在內; 用在否定句或疑問句中，則指只擁有besides後面的內容
請注意：不要將besides與beside在...旁邊）混淆。besides表示除了...之外或此外，而beside表示在...的旁邊、和...無關、和...相比。字尾少了一個s，意義差很大。
用法須注意事項：
要注意使用besides當轉換詞時，後面要加上逗號，並且它不是連接詞，寫作時請注意標點符號 - 以下為三種情況的例句，請看以下例句的粗體字，注意標點符號與使用句型的差別：：
- The house is too small for our family, and besides, it's too far from my workplace. - 在第一句的句尾打上逗號，用and當連接詞
- I have a lot of homework to do tonight; besides, I have to study for a test.- 用分號當連接詞
- Exercise can reduce stress levels. Besides, it can improve cognitive function and overall well-being. - 在第一句句尾打上句號，besides直接當下一句的開頭
